BACK FROM THE EDGE

I am a photographer/sculptor working with found objects shaped by the tides or discarded materials left by people, These natural and man-made objects are resurrected, given new purpose as simple transient sculptures. Once photographed they are left for the tide. All artworks are created on Portobello beach, Edinburgh.

There is often a surreal quality to the photographs, especially when passing figures appear within the frame. Their presence disrupts familiar visual narratives, shifting our perceptions and presenting an alternate, surreal, almost dreamlike space.

All images are taken with an iPhone, the only manipulation being their colour. Otherwise, what you see is what I see.

My aim is these images suggest to the viewer a sense of simplicity and calmness, a reflective and mindful engagement with our environment.
